Chiropractic FAQ

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is over 100 years old and represents the only sane thing in an insane healthcare system, is backed up by a mountain of scientific evidence, and literally millions of satisfied patients. Chiropractic is a system of health care that releases one of the most serious forms of stress known to the body, the vertebral subluxation. Chiropractic is the largest drugless, natural health care system in the world, helping people recover from sickness, disease, disability, and maximizing their health potential. Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism. These important functions are controlled by your nervous system. If the nervous system has nerve interference (i.e. subluxation), then pain and malfunction in tissues and organs can occur. Chiropractic care removes that interference and allows your body to do what it was designed to do naturally – heal itself without drugs or surgery.

2 key terms to remember in Chiropractic

1. Subluxation – Is a misalignment or a loss of normal movement of a bone or vertebra in your spine. The spinal cord goes from your brain, through the base of your skull down your spinal column to your tail bone with nerve roots exiting out between every vertebra and going to every part of your body. When a vertebra goes out of its normal alignment or gets stuck, this irritates those nerve roots causing pain or dysfunction in the muscle, tissue or organs as well as an imbalance in the normal body processes and can even weaken your overall health. Subluxations can be caused by physical, chemical and emotional stress, trauma, falls, or injury, from a difficult birth, childhood falls, auto accident or continuous general wear and tear.

2. Adjustment – The proven method that we use to correct subluxations is called an adjustment. An adjustment involves the gentle and specific application of a force in a precise direction to the spine in order to restore joint motion and reposition the vertebra, releasing the pressure and pinching off of your nerves which eliminates your pain, and restores normal function, flexibility, and health. There are hundreds of ways to adjust the spine and are usually preformed using the doctor’s hands or a specially designed instrument. Some adjusting methods are quick, whereas others require a slow constant pressure. We are highly skilled in delivering a variety of adjusting approaches needed to correct the most difficult case or conditions from one day old babies with birth trauma to 100 year old at-risk seniors, failed back surgeries or finely-tuned Olympic athletes. There are case histories of people recovering from nearly every known disease and condition under Chiropractic care, such as heart trouble, hyperactivity, fatique, allergies, immune deficiencies, infertility and other conditions.

Chiropractic is vitalistic and holistic meaning the entire body and lifestyle may be examined and cared for to maximize your health. Diet, posture, exercise, attitude and de-stressing strategies are used to promote wellness. Chiropractic does not include medications or surgery which means it is non toxic, non poisonous, non invasive and is extraordinarily safe. We truly believe the majority of people would regain their health, eliminate their pain and optimize their life under chiropractic care.

No. Each patient is adjusted according to their unique requirements. Your chiropractor will determine the best way to adjust your spine after completing a detailed Chiropractic examination.
